On 27 May 2021, the Energy Economics Institute(EEI)and Rystad Energy held an academic seminar on energy transition and other topics. The members of senior management team of the EEI, including Wang Zhen, Guo Shengwei, Sun Ying, and Bao Chunli, and Jarand Rystad, the CEO/Founder of the Rystad Energy, and more than 20 delegates from both sides attended the seminar.
President Wang Zhen presented the important role played by the EEI as a think tank and supportive organ for the CNOOC in various research areas.
Jarand Rystad introduced Rystad Energy's research performance on oil and gas exploration and development, assets trading, and macro analysis. He shared in detail Rystad Energy's idea on the global energy transition and discussed in depth the future development trend of the energy industry, in which oil and gas companies may face both challenges and opportunities, the efforts and approaches to achieve the 2-degree or even 1.5-degree Celsius climate change roadmap in the future, and commented on the newly released IEA’s Net Zero by 2050 report.
The delegates had a dynamic discussion in-depth on the above issues. The two sides agreed that they would further strengthen the cooperation exchange the latest progress in energy transformation and oil & gas development strategies of both sides.
